Sunday Afternoons

After Sunday School we headed to the Riverbank Zoo. We haven’t been all summer because it has been just too hot! We stopped, and at lunch a Rush’s. If you are ever near one you have to try it! They have great food. The zoo wasn’t as crowded as I thought it would be. it was a little warm ,but nothing unbearable. A new exhibit was opened at the beginning of summer ,and we had to check it out.

You get to walk right through the kangaroos! The kids thought that was awesome!

The gorillas always amaze me. Their feet are so huge!

Beacon Drive In

If you watch Food Network’s “Diner, Drive In ,and Dives” you may have saw the Beacon Drive –In. It is a famous eatery in our town. It’s one of those places where you really only need it once a year. The chili cheeseburgers are the BEST,and of course filled with lots of grease..lol. This is where my brother-in-law, Timmy, chose to have his 30TH birthday dinner.

_

Timmy got the JC Pounder ( JC is a man that works at the Beacon. You walk up to the counter and he says “Call it!” He never writes anything down, he yells it to the back and your order is ALWAYS right!)

After the massive burgers we had a Pig out. It is 10 scoops of ice cream, 4 bananas, cherries, whip cream, nuts ,sprinkles and some other stuff.

Below is what it looked like after 13 people got a hold of it..lol.

Preteen Picnic

On Saturday we went to annual preteen picnic at the park. Yeah, that is a mouthful..lol. It’s a time for all of the preteen families( at church) to fellowship and know one another better. Corey had to work so it was just me and the kiddos. Kain stayed with his friends the whole time and played in the creek. While my other two didn’t stray too far. Zoe rode the train with her friends, and of course Kain and Noah thought they were too big for it. We all had a great time, and I am looking forward to a great year in preteen!

( not sure why this ended up blurry, but it was the only one I got)

Back to School

When the alarm went off at 5:30 AM I realized that my wonderful summer was really over! As I dragged myself from the bed I heard giggling upstairs. Yep, my boys were already up and talking about school. I guess I should be very happy that they are/were excited about the first day. I was just trying to get to the shower without falling since my eyes were still closed. Zoe sprung out of the bed too and ready to go. Today was my first day at work too. I am a assistant teacher in the one year old class at my church’s preschool. We all had yummy cinnamon rolls ,and off we went. Noah and Zoe jumped out of the car never looking back. Kain looked like he was going to be sick. He was REALLY nervous about going into 6TH grade. I still can’t believe I have a child in the 6TH grade! He looked a lot better when he got out of the car. I can’t wait to hear all about their big day!!!

Last weekend we got to spend the day with some friends that were in town. The kids swam ,and we all got caught up.

Centri-Kid Camp 2010

As most of you know Kain was at camp last week. I was very nervous about him going for a whole week. Would he remember to take a bath, eat, drink plenty of water, change his clothes,or put sunscreen on? He left on Monday and FINALLY called on Tuesday only because another mother had to tell him to CALL HIS MOTHER! I guess he was having too much fun to talk to his mommy:( When he called I asked was he having fun? Did you put on sunscreen? It may seems like I am a little obsessed with him putting on sunscreen, and I am! When you have fair skinned red heads they don’t tan they BURN! I mean like water blister,3rd degree burn! Of course his reply to my question was, “ I forgot to put it on today, and now I am FRIED!” See I knew he couldn’t make it a whole week without me;) I begged him to please remember to put it on!

Thursday night was family night,so Corey,Noah and myself headed to Anderson University (that is where camp was held). I was SO excited to see him,and hear all about what he was doing. He walked through the door ,ran straight over and told me how much he missed me. I know sweet, right? Too bad that was only what I hoped would happen. He didn’t want to be within 5 feet of us,or really talk to us. I am so not liking this stage where it’s not cool to “like” your parents in front of your friends! Of course I MADE him take a family picture. When we went into the room he sat one row in front of us,and during family prayer time didn’t want to be with his family. I am not going to lie when I say this “stage” hurts this mamas feelings a lot! By the end of the night he wasn’t as mortified to be seen with us!

see how red his face is! I should of got a close up of the WATER blisters on his neck and ears!

Yes, I made him take a picture with his friends at family night! I know,I am a horrible mother! Look at all those sunburned boys!

Here are some pictures that our Youth pastor took, thanks Stephen:)

This is the whole pre teen group! Kain is in the front row of all of the pictures. Or you could just look for the boy who is “fried”!

Boy, was I glad when Friday came, and I picked him up! He had a blast, and can’t wait to go back next year. I may not even be “allowed” to go to family night then…lol! As soon as he got home he fell right to sleep! I was so happy to have my baby home:)
