Today we celebrated my niece's 6th birthday. We seem to always stay so busy so it's nice when we can all get together. Kain was at a band cookout so we did miss him but we still had a lot of fun!

Davidson River
Day 1 of summer break was spent relaxing on the Davidson River in Pisgah National Forest. Well first Noah had a lacrosse scrimmage but as soon as it was over we headed to Brevard,NC. After sitting out in the sun we were all ready to cool off. The water was frigid! I only stuck my toe in and decided I would wait until later in the summer. The kids jumped off the rock, floated down the river, played some lacrosse and looked at their phones. On the way out we stop at a BBQ place for dinner which was really good. It was a great way to kick off our summer break!

Last Day of School
This school year has flown by! It seems like August was just a few weeks ago. We could not have asked for a better school year for any of them. Of course I forced them outside this morning for the last day of school picture. I hadn't really though they had changed much until I put this picture beside the first day of school picture. They all look much older:/ We now have a rising senior, sophomore and 7th grader! By the way Zoe found out yesterday that she made the football cheer leading team!! She was so worried during try outs but so excited she almost cried yesterday! Next school year is going to be super busy but I hope to take in every moment.

6th Grade Honors Day
Today was the 6th grade honors day at Gable. Zoe transitioned so well from BSMS to Gable that you would have thought she had always been there. Today she was recognized for being on the Principal's Honor Roll, Beta Club and for reading more than 25 books this school year. She has been surrounded by amazing friends and has made so many memories!
Riverbank Zoo
Sunday after church we took a trip to Riverbank Zoo in Columbia. We haven't been to that zoo in a few years and I was surprised that the kids even wanted to go. There are a lot of projects and new exhibits so it was nice to see all the new things. I just enjoyed spending time with the kids and Corey.
This new entrance looks great!
We just hung out and rested while Zoe did the ropes course.
I made the kids do the picture with the statue. I have a picture from 2005 of them on it and thought it would be fun to recreate it.

Band Banquet
Tuesday we had Kain's third band banquet. I know I say it all the time but I just don't know where the time went. I can clearly remember our first band meeting and thinking 4 years will last a long time. Nope, it has gone so fast! He received certificates for getting a Superior at Solo and Ensemble, marching band and patches for making finals in all the BOA's they marched in. We are so excited for the upcoming band season! Kain is one of the section leaders for the baritones and their competition schedule is going to be awesome!
The baritone section!

Spring Band Concert
We just wrapped up Kain's spring band concert of his junior year. It amazes me how beautiful they sound especially when I remember back to me having to plug my ears during the 6th grade concert...lol. They actually played music that was just performed at a college so it wasn't an easy piece.
Band Car Wash
On Saturday while I was in Fletcher with Noah at lax, Corey and Kain were working the band car wash. It seemed like they had a great time just spending time together. This is Kain's last car wash for band and that kinda makes me sad.

Fletcher Tournament
On Saturday we headed to Fletcher,NC for the last D6 game of the rec season. It was a beautiful location and the weather was great! D6 won all three of the their games and won the tournament championship.
During the first game they were winning 11-0 so they let Noah do his first face off and he actually won! He also played midfield and did not like that at all.
There was a vendor at the tournament that was giving away ghost shafts for the fastest shot for each age group. Zoe jumped right in with the boys and is never intimidated. Her fastest shot was 54 mph.
Noah shot 86 mph and was the fastest of all the age groups. He was very excited to win the shaft.

Spring Chorus Concert
Zoe loves to sing so it was no surprise when she signed up for chorus. The Gable chorus had their final performance of the year last week. Zoe has loved chorus and her teacher Mrs.Hoffee. She is excited about chorus next year and getting to wear the black dresses...lol!

Lacrosse Banquet
The lacrosse banquet was hosted at Philadelphia Baptist Church this year. The guest speaker was the head coach at Limestone College. His speak was really good and talked about how the older players need to sweep the shed. This was a term taken from All Blacks Rugby team . The seniors or elders of the team set the example and actually clean the locker room after each game when normally you hear freshman doing the grunt work. I hope some of what the coach said sunk in for Noah. Dorman JV had a great year and we are looking forward to next year!

Dorman Lax Freshman Year
I wasn't really worried about Noah being accepted at a new school because he knew tons of people but I was worried about him joining a new lacrosse team. I had nothing to worry about! All those boys just took him in like he was always there. The Dorman JV had an amazing 2016 season going 15-1 and that included 2 tournament championships! Noah learned so much this year from Coach Price and Coach Neuder. Noah scored 24 regular season goals and 21 tournament goals. He set a goal to get 100 by the end of his senior year so we will see how that goes . Noah was moved up to varsity for the last week of lax. He only got to practice twice and didn't get any play time but he was still happy about it. I never knew I could enjoy a sport so much!
